Job Description

As an Associate Chaplain, you will play a meaningful role in delivering pastoral care across Good Samaritan Hospital, Bethesda North Hospital, and Hospice of Cincinnati—offering presence, listening, and support during moments that matter most.

This role is ideal for individuals beginning or growing their pastoral care journey. You’ll provide spiritual support through prayer, active listening, and connection to spiritual resources, while gaining hands-on experience in a clinical setting. As part of a collaborative pastoral care team, you’ll contribute to patient-centered care by documenting spiritual needs, supporting advance care planning discussions, and integrating into assigned care units through rounds and team engagement.

Bethesda North Hospital at 10500 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, OH 45242

Work Schedule:

  • PRN
  • Shift varies
  • Weekend, Holiday, and On call rotation

Incentives & Benefits:

This position is classified as PRN and is not eligible for TriHealth benefits.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • 1 Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education to be completed within 6 months of hire (2 units preferred). Ordination or Endorsement by a recognized faith group within 180 Days is required

This position is to provide Pastoral Care Support at Good Samaritan, Bethesda North Hospital and Hospice of Cincinnati.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Documents on EPIC, appropriate information for the nurses, documents about patients' religion and advance directives.
    Informs patients of spiritual opportunities available, offers emotional/spiritual support through prayers and listening presence. Is a good team members by being generous and flexible in cross coverage for sicknesses and vacations.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and initiative in providing services and participation in on-call as appropriate.
    Provides Pastoral Care on assigned units of hospital. Demonstrate how you have integrated into your assigned clinical areas (team education, patient care rounds, routine visits, etc.)
  • Functions as a positive member of the pastoral care team.
  • Pursues continued Professional Development: NON-CERTIFIED CHAPLAINS (Chaplain Associate): Completion of 20 hours of continuing pastoral education.
