Chain Person working with BYLOR on the Hinkley Point C Project,

Key Area of Responsibility

• Following Safe working practices including wearing PPE and demonstrating a duty of care to others
• Assisting the engineer in setting out, levelling and surveying the site.
• Assisting the engineer in ensuring that all materials used and work performed are as per specifications.
• Assisting in resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
• Assist Preperation of the basic calculations/sketches
• Data entry of information onto Site IT systems

Skills / Knowledge / Experience

• Ability to understand technical terminology & read drawings
• Team player actively seeks guidance when required
• Assertive and confident to stop any operations that appear unsafe
• IT literate (Word, Excel)
• To take instruction from junior engineers
• Have a questioning attiyude
• Good communication skills both orally and in writing
• To Read and question site RAMS
• To accompany Engineers and others during inspections
• To participate in site based H&S training

Qualifications

• GCSE (or equivalent) in English, maths, science and/or NVQ in construction related discipline is desirable, but not essential
• HSE & Triple Bar – Working towards CSCS card
