Job Description

In this position.

As part of our Product Development Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) team, you will focus on virtual vehicle verification and advanced thermal management to deliver high-performance, sustainable mobility solutions.

  • Drive the virtual design, thermal management, and aerodynamic optimization of advanced braking systems across full-vehicle platforms. By bridging advanced computational simulation with real-world validation, you will solve complex thermal and fluid dynamics challenges early in development, directly contributing to vehicle safety, performance efficiency, and reduced reliance on physical prototypes.

What you'll do.

  • Develop, mesh, and execute high-fidelity Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models to evaluate thermal, fluid, and structural performance of brake components and full-vehicle cooling architectures.
  • Deliver data-driven engineering recommendations and design solutions based on thermal-fluid simulation results and physical test data.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional design, release, testing, and supplier teams throughout the product development lifecycle to guide early design decisions and resolve performance issues.
  • Automate repetitive simulation workflows and meshing routines using scripting languages to continuously improve CAE turnaround time and modeling precision.
  • Implement design optimization methodologies (using tools such as mode FRONTIER or HEEDS) to balance cooling performance, weight reduction, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with physical test engineers to correlate virtual analysis with empirical test results, driving continuous improvement in model correlation and predictive accuracy.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Typically 3+ years of experience in CFD, FEA, or thermal CAE analysis, preferably within automotive, aerospace, or heavy-equipment thermal management applications.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of vehicle aerodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer physics (static and transient), and mechanical/structural behavior, with familiarity in brake systems.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard CFD and FEA pre-processors and solvers (such as Simcenter STAR-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent, ANSA, Altair HyperWorks, or Abaqus).
  • Practical scripting skills (e.g., Python, Java, or C++) for workflow automation and data analysis.
  • Effective technical communication skills with a collaborative mindset and an eagerness to work in cross-functional engineering teams.

Even better, you may have...

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with specialized coursework in Fluid Dynamics, Thermal Sciences, or Finite Element Methods.
  • Hands-on experience with multidisciplinary design optimization software (e.g., mode FRONTIER, HEEDS).
  • Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating environments.
  • Familiarity with DMAIC, Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), or quality robustness tools applied to virtual engineering.
