This is an exciting opportunity to work on a clean-sheet turbofan programme using state-of-the-art simulation tools and advanced engineering methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform CFD analyses to support the aerodynamic and aerothermal design of turbofan engine components and subsystems.
  • Optimise airflow performance across engine modules including inlet, fan, booster, compressors, combustor, high- and low-pressure turbines, and secondary air systems.
  • Evaluate aerodynamic losses, efficiency, operability, surge margins, pressure ratios, and cooling effectiveness.
  • Conduct whole-engine integrated flow analyses to support engine and aircraft integration.
  • Support multidisciplinary design optimisation and assess the impact of design changes on engine performance.
  • Develop and improve CFD methodologies, simulation workflows, and automated reporting tools.
  • Correlate simulation results with rig and engine test data to improve model accuracy.
  • Prepare technical reports, present findings during design reviews, and provide recommendations to engineering teams.
  • Identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies throughout the product development lifecycle.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master's degree or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Turbomachinery, Fluid Dynamics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years' experience performing CFD analysis within aerospace propulsion, gas turbines, or turbomachinery.
  • Strong understanding of compressor and turbine aerodynamics, turbulence modelling, heat transfer, and multidisciplinary optimisation.
  • Experience supporting engine performance analysis and aerodynamic design.

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency with CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, or equivalent.
  • Experience with meshing tools including ICEM CFD and TurboGrid
  • Knowledge of Python, MATLAB, and HPC computing environments for automation and post-processing.
  • Experience with automated simulation workflows and design optimisation.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies, including AI-assisted engineering and digital design methods.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and technical presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams while managing multiple priorities.
