Certified Veterinary Technician, Radiology | $22-$32/hour

Location: Portsmouth, NH

Schedule: Full-Time | Four 10-hour shifts with a rotating schedule that includes Saturdays

Compensation: $22-$32/hour

Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our Radiology team in Portsmouth, NH. Work directly with a board-certified veterinary radiologist while building advanced skills in digital radiography, ultrasound, CT, and fluoroscopy within a collaborative 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital.

Students currently enrolled in an accredited veterinary technology program are encouraged to apply!

Compensation

  • $22-$32/hour, based on experience and skills

Schedule

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the board-certified veterinary radiologist to facilitate diagnostic imaging procedures
  • Prepare patients for imaging studies, including positioning, restraint, sedation, and anesthesia support as needed
  • Obtain high-quality diagnostic radiographs in accordance with hospital and radiation safety standards
  • Assist with abdominal, thoracic, musculoskeletal, and specialty ultrasound procedures
  • Assist with CT procedures, including patient preparation, contrast administration, monitoring, and recovery
  • Support fluoroscopic procedures through patient preparation, equipment setup, monitoring, positioning, and post-procedure patient care
  • Provide exceptional Veterinary Technician nursing care before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures
  • Coordinate imaging schedules and workflow with specialty and Emergency/ER services
  • Maintain imaging equipment and support compliance with quality assurance and radiation safety protocols
  • Accurately document patient information, procedures, and treatments in the medical record
  • Communicate effectively with clinicians regarding patient readiness, workflow, and imaging needs
  • Continue developing advanced Vet Tech skills through structured onboarding, mentorship, and diagnostic imaging training with the radiology team

Qualifications

  • Current Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) license in New Hampshire required
  • Minimum 2 years of Veterinary Technician experience
  • Strong foundational technical nursing skills, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, patient handling and restraint, medication administration, phlebotomy, sample collection, anesthesia, and sedation support
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced specialty and emergency animal hospital environment
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to exceptional patient care and client service
  • Willingness to participate in hospital-provided diagnostic imaging training and competency development programs
  • Experience supporting digital radiography, ultrasound, CT, and/or fluoroscopy procedures preferred
  • Knowledge of radiation safety practices and imaging protocols preferred
  • Experience monitoring sedated or anesthetized patients during diagnostic procedures preferred
  • Specialty or referral hospital experience preferred
  • RECOVER BLS and/or ALS certification preferred
  • Fear Free Certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of medical imaging equipment and image acquisition techniques preferred
  • VTS candidates and Veterinary Technicians interested in advanced diagnostic imaging are encouraged to apply
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
