Certified Veterinary Technician – Emergency

$25–$40/hour | Central Point, OR | 3-Day Work Week | 12-Hour Shifts

Schedule: Consistent three-day work week with 12-hour shifts, plus generous pay differentials for weekend and overnight hours.

Up to $6,000 in combined sign-on bonus, relocation reimbursement, and retention bonus for Oregon-licensed CVTs!

Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center (SOVSC) is hiring a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) – Emergency to join our 24/7 specialty and emergency veterinary hospital in Central Point, OR. Use your clinical skills to assess incoming emergencies, initiate patient stabilization, and provide attentive ICU monitoring while working alongside experienced emergency veterinarians and board-certified specialists.

In Your Day-to-Day You Will

  • Serve as an initial clinical point of contact for emergency and critical care patients, quickly assessing patient condition and identifying urgent needs
  • Triage incoming emergencies and communicate changes in patient status to the veterinary team
  • Assist with patient stabilization, including oxygen therapy, IV catheter placement, fluid resuscitation, and other emergency interventions
  • Monitor patients continuously in the ICU, recognizing subtle changes and escalating concerns appropriately
  • Assist with blood transfusions, including patient preparation, monitoring, and documentation
  • Provide hands-on nursing care for patients experiencing trauma, toxicities, respiratory distress, acute abdominal conditions, and other life-threatening emergencies
  • Support emergency procedures and diagnostic testing while maintaining accurate patient records
  • Work closely with veterinarians and specialists to implement treatment plans and respond to changing patient needs
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners during stressful and time-sensitive situations
  • Maintain a calm, organized, and collaborative approach when managing multiple high-acuity patients
  • Step in wherever needed to support the emergency and critical care team and ensure smooth patient flow

What We’re Looking For

  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT); recent veterinary technician graduates preparing for the VTNE are encouraged to apply
  • Oregon CVT license preferred/required for eligibility for the bonus program
  • Confidence with rapid patient assessment and clinical decision-making
  • Ability to remain focused and effective in a fast-paced, high-acuity emergency environment
  • Strong technical and patient-care skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Compassionate approach to patients and their families
  • Adaptable, dependable, and willing to support the hospital as a whole
  • Interest in expanding clinical knowledge and learning advanced emergency and critical care techniques
