  • Under the direction of the superintendent and the regional principal, the media specialist/teacher functions as a media specialist/teacher In the Appalachian region.

  • The person in this position will spend 50% as a teacher.

  • Acts as a primary liaison for Palmetto unified school district to manage the operations of library services and provide academic and career-related services to individuals.

  • Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing library programs and/or enhancing library services, if needed, managing the circulation of books, materials, and resources, establishing positive relationships with local and state libraries, and public individuals to pick up donated books, screening materials for appropriateness before distribution to libraries, providing literacy and numeracy Instruction, and integrating career-related activities to individuals.

  • Satisfy all mandatory training requirements of (PUSD/SCDC).

  • Perform all other educational and related duties as assigned.

Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.
