Job Location: Mosharrafa Outpatient Surgery - Pheonix, AZ 85028
Position Type: Full TimeJob

Summary:
· Surgical Tech-assists the surgical team before, during and after the surgical procedure.
· Materials Specialist- responsible for inventorying and replenishing supply levels
· Sterile processing including preparing sterile instruments and supplies for surgery.
· Maintenance monitoring of equipment for all perioperative clinical areas within the facility.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the facility or health care organization.
2. Maintains and demonstrates skills and knowledge in aseptic technique
3. Assist in surgical procedures as needed under the supervision of the surgeon.
4. Understands the principles of sterilization techniques and operating sterilization equipment.
5. Validate sterilizer tests and parameters and sterilization record-keeping.
6. Establishes, inventories, and maintains adequate par levels of materials for perioperative services.
7. Monitors and maintains appropriate levels of perioperative services consignment inventory, including surgical implants.
8. Cleaning and preparation of equipment and operating room
9. Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens and body fluids.
10. Count sponges, needles and instruments with the circulating nurse.
11. Prepares and assembles instruments and supplies through cleaning, packaging, sterilizing and storing procedures as required by infection control standards.
12. Monitors, rotates, and removes all outdated and overstocked materials and verifies that perioperative services par levels are adjusted accordingly.
13. Notifies Administrator of all outdated supplies that are removed from the par level.
14. Monitors restocking of all materials used for patient care in the perioperative environment.
15. Monitors oxygen, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen tank levels daily and orders replacement tanks as needed.
16. Reviews the surgical schedule in advance to verify that proper supplies and equipment are available when needed.
17. Assists with goal setting and financial management of supply costs, including assistance with development of and adherence to the perioperative and facility or health care organization budget.
18. Assists with contract compliance and negotiating pricing for perioperative services materials and equipment.
19. Maintains records of purchase orders, requisitions, and product literature.
20. Coordinates loans and returns of perioperative services equipment and other materials.
21. Communicates pertinent information regarding back-orders and anticipated release dates for perioperative materials.
22. Implements cost-containment practices by advocating for judicious use of perioperative services materials, capturing patient charges accurately and completely, and reconciling invoice exceptions in a timely manner.
23. Compiles reports for data analysis and quality improvement projects relative to perioperative materials management.
24. Serves as a resource for perioperative personnel in matters such as purchasing procedures, product information, and contract compliance.
25. Notifies risk manager of product recalls.
26. Pursues professional growth and participates in a professional organization.
27. Maintains privacy and confidentiality of all appropriate information.

QualificationsEducation/Licensure/Certification — Mandatory:
· Basic life support (BLS) within six months of hire
Required:
· CST or one year experience.
· Demonstrates necessary clinical competency
· Computer skills (eg, Microsoft PowerPoint®, Word, Excel®)
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
· Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue, communicable diseases, chemicals, and radiation
· Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for medium work
· Some heavy lifting is required (20 to 25 lbs frequently; 10 to 20 lbs constantly)
· Working irregular hours
· Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range
