
Reporting to the Department Manager, the Surgical Technician I (entry to practice/novice) performs under the supervision of experienced Surgical Technicians and/or RN preceptor, and assists in the treatment and care of patients in the Operating Room.
The Surgical Technician I demonstrates progressive growth in ability to perform independent of an orientor and demonstrates evolving knowledge of the standards of practice required of a Surgical Technician and of physician preferences necessary to provide for safe, effective, and quality patient care.

Unit Description:
The Frederick Health Surgery Department operates 10 operating rooms, 2 obstetric rooms, and 2 endoscopy rooms at the hospital. Last fiscal year, our high-volume operating room completed nearly 9,000 cases. We support a broad range of specialties, including orthopedics, spine, general surgery, bariatrics, urology, gynecology, otolaryngology, podiatry, endoscopy, and vascular procedures. Our department is equipped with the region’s most advanced DaVinci robotic technology, supporting greater surgeon autonomy, improved tissue control, and increased operating room efficiency.
Our surgical service is a Center of Excellence for Bariatrics and has earned the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Go Clear Gold Award for successfully eliminating hazardous surgical smoke from our operating rooms.

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required
· High school diploma required
· Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program with eligibility to sit for the certification exam for surgical technologists.
· Current CPR certification.

Reports to the Department Manager; receives supervision from Director or Department Manager.

Pay is based on experience, skills and education. If position is part-time, salary will be pro-rated based on scheduled hours. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. Non-Exempt positions may have shift differential and/or Overtime paid, if applicable.
Hourly Range: $30.82 - $44.17
