The Surgical Technologist performs various tasks supporting perioperative services, including preparation of operating room, transport of patients, supplies, equipment, and specimens. This position assists surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other members of an operating room team by preparing patients for their procedures, sterilizing equipment, and maintaining environmental cleanliness before, during, and after surgical procedures. This position, also, provides technical assistance to surgeons by anticipating and passing instruments, assuring the functioning of instruments, and keeping instruments free of debris during surgical procedures. The Surgical Technologist measures and passes medications, hemostatic agents, and other solutions.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Prepares for surgical procedures by obtaining appropriate instruments, supplies and equipment and appropriate records for specific surgical procedures; opens surgical supplies/equipment, cleans and prepares instruments for sterilization process, and restocks pre-operative carts.
Arrange instrument trays, prepare sterile drapes and solutions, and help the surgical team put on caps, gowns, and gloves.
Assists in the cleanup of surgical environment after a procedure, ensuring the operating room is cleaned and set up for turnover to the next procedure.
Removes equipment from surgery room, and follows proper procedure to dispose of contaminated equipment and supplies.
Assist with prep of patients, as needed.
Clinic responsibilities may include rooming patients, taking vitals, orders, and routing phone calls.
Call Required - Within 30 minutes (7-8 days per month / 1 weekend call every 5th week / 2 holiday calls per year)
Qualifications
Required High School Diploma/GED
4 years Surgical Technician Required
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
