A Brief Overview
Administers physical therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed physical therapist to patients suffering from injuries or disease affecting neurological, musculoskeletal, sensory, respiratory, and cardiac systems with the purpose of restoring function, relieving pain, and providing education to patients/family/staff within the scope of practice.

Education Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree Physical Therapy Assistant accredited program. Required


Experience Qualifications

  • Experience providing healthcare. Preferred

  • Demonstrates supportive behaviors necessary for age-specific care as determined by each specific department. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to draw and interpret graphs. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. (Required proficiency)


Licenses and Certifications

  • Physical Therapy Assistant - KSBHA Required
  • Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire.


What you will do

  • Administers physical therapy treatments under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist’s plan of care working within the scope of practice as outlined by Kansas Law.
  • Performs measurements and administers standardized testing within the scope of practice.
  • Documents all treatments including subjective, objective, assessment, and plan for each visit.
  • Inputs appropriate charges for treatments performed using hospital guidelines which follow Medicare and other insurance company rules.
  • Provides education to the patient/family/caregivers and interdisciplinary staff relating to rehabilitation after injury or disease, post hospitalization care, wellness.
  • Coordinates with interdisciplinary staff to integrate physical therapy practice with other aspects of patient care.
  • Monitors and educates rehab techs and physical therapist assistant students.
  • Completes all assigned competencies/mandated education and other tasks per organizational standards.
  • Performs clerical duties such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering the telephone, taking messages, and filling out forms.
  • Accepts assignment to committees/task forces.
  • Participates in research for performance improvement and expanding knowledge of evidence based practice.
  • Practices within the guidelines of KPTA/APTA, Kansas law/Federal law.
