Butler hospital has opportunities in our Pharmacy Technician program; full time and part time, varied schedules and shifts available. Retail, hospital, long term care technicians are welcome to take a look at joining our team.

Butler Hospital is the state's only non-profit, free-standing psychiatric hospital providing adults, seniors and adolescents specialized assessment and treatment for all major psychiatric illnesses and substance abuse.

Butler is the major affiliated teaching hospital for psychiatry and behavioral health of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University

It is the flagship hospital for its Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, which has been recognized by its peers as one of the top ten in the US.

Butler is the major training site and the base hospital for the Brown University General Residency in Psychiatry.

Many physicians and psychologists at Butler are also part of the Brown Institute for Brain Science and participate in exciting clinical research initiatives with this world-renowned center for neuroscience.

The Pharmacy Technician will assist the pharmacist in all aspects of the medication preparation and distribution processes. Duties include preparation of medications for distribution to automatic dispensing cabinets, repackaging into unit-dose blister packs, and various medication inventory functions.

Technicians will also participate in the documentation of medication histories of patient at the point of admission.

Assists Pharmacist in performing routine duties in hospital pharmacy.

Requirements

  • High school graduate
  • Training and Experience: Preferably a graduate of Pharmacy Technician Training Program
  • Special Qualifications: Must Have Rhode Island Pharmacy Technician II License. Skills in Math, typing, and computers are necessary.
