Position Purpose:
The occupational therapist assistantassiststhe occupational therapist in carrying out a patient’s established plan of care.
What theCertified Occupational Therapist Assistant( COTA)WillDo:
Accountable for the application of a written treatment plan and administers treatment for each patient according to the stated goals.
Utilizes a variety ofmodalities asappropriate toenhance patient progress. Instructs patients in varying programsappropriate toenhance performance and cultivate progress toward occupational therapy goals.
Communicates with and educates patients and their familiesregardingplan of care, home equipment recommendations, considerations foradditionalrehab, discharge planning, home exercise program, self-administered treatments, and familyassistance
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a graduate from an occupational therapyassistingprogram accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
Required:Associate’s Degree
State of Michigan Occupational Therapist Assistant License or eligible to obtain licensure prior to hire date
American Heart Association BLS or equivalent.
