PCU is a 20-bed unit capable of monitoring patients via central telemetry 24 hours a dayPCU serves as a place for the monitoring and care of patientsage16 to geriatric with moderate or potentially severephysiologicinstability, requiring technical support but not necessarily artificial life support.
Performscarerequiressubstantial specialized knowledge, judgement and nursing skills based upon the principles of psychological, biological,physicaland social sciences in the application of the nursing process. Utilizes high-level assessment skills to design and ensure multidisciplinary patient care to meet holistic needs, incorporating established practice guidelines and regulatory standards.
Provides direct patient care and clinical support under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Monitors and documents vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other patient information accurately.
Assistspatients with daily living activities including hygiene, mobility, feeding, repositioning, and comfort needs while promoting dignity and safety.
Supports admissions, transfers, discharges, and department-specific clinical procedures as directed.
Observes and reports changes in patient condition or concerns to the nursing team promptly.
Collects specimens andassistswith routine patient care procedures.
Delivers compassionate, patient-centered service to patients, families, and visitors.
Maintains compliance with hospital safety, infection prevention, and quality standards.
Requirements:
Current Kentucky Nurse Aide CertificationrequiredOR successful completion of the first year of a nursing program with validation of a clinical rotation consistent with level of education.
High School Diploma or GEDrequired
No experiencerequired; patient care experience preferred.
Candidates without Nurse Aide Certification must obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
BLS certificationrequiredwithin90 daysof hire.
