Position Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role supports nursing staff by assisting patients with activities of daily living, monitoring basic health measures, and ensuring a safe, clean, and comfortable environment. The CNA performs routine care procedures in accordance with hospital policies while demonstrating compassion, professionalism, and respect for patients, families, and coworkers.
Essential Functions
As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse while ensuring patients feel safe, comfortable, and respected.
Key Responsibilities:
-  Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
-  Take and accurately record vital signs
-  Monitor and report changes in patient condition
-  Assist with feeding and measuring intake/output
-  Safely transfer, reposition, and transport patients
-  Maintain clean, safe, and comfortable patient environments
-  Respond promptly to patient call lights
-  Support nursing staff with examinations and treatments
-  Uphold patient dignity and HIPAA confidentiality
-  Collaborate with coworkers to ensure excellent patient care
Education and Experience
- Completion of a state-approved CNA program
- Valid West Virginia CNA certification (in good standing)
- Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- Basic computer skills
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to remain professional and compassionate under pressure
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts
Preferred: Previous hospital or healthcare experience.
Physical Requirements
This role requires standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds (with proper technique), bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and continuous movement throughout your shift.
