The Certified Nurse Midwife at Prevea Health is responsible for full scope of midwifery services, including GYN throughout the life-cycle, prenatal education, attending childbirth, providing encouragement during labor and delivery, and supervising the general care of women and children directly after birth. Facilitates care to women during normal pregnancies and deliveries and calls on obstetricians or other physicians if complications develop. Provides medical services and contributes to the design and delivery of high quality, values- based patient care for Prevea Health patients.

What you will do

  • Manages the overall care of healthy childbearing through the prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum experience, including newborn assessment at delivery and lactation support.
  • Provides gynecological care such as wellness exams and family planning assistance.
  • Evaluates and provides treatment procedures necessary in urgent medical situations and consults the collaborating or on-call physician.
  • Prescribes medications and therapies appropriate to their scope of practice. Provides primary care to women, which includes the following: Obtains histories and perform appropriate medical exams; conduct health screening procedures; diagnose, treat, and monitor common and acute health care problems; and provide health education
  • May act as surgical assistant at c-section and Gynecological procedures.


Education Qualifications

  • Master's Degree graduate of an accredited school of nursing and midwifery program accredited by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) Required

Experience Qualifications

  • 1-3 years clinical experience as a registered nurse in labor and delivery Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Able to maintain appropriate and complete clinical records, fostering communication between health care providers, continuity of care, and coordination of services.
  • Maintains knowledge of current statutes regulating nurse-midwifery practice and provide services within the limitations as established by state licensure boards, local and federal regulations
  • Knowledge of principles and skills needed to provide patient care within scope of practice.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to provide patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Fosters work and patient relationships through excellent interpersonal skills, behaviors, and communication.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet changing demands.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work under stressful or emergency situations with high concentration and energy level.
  • Possess skills to effectively problem solve.
  • Proficient in the use of electronic medical record (EMR) systems, computer, phone, and office equipment.
  • Possess effective written and verbal communication.

Licenses and Certifications

  • CPR/Basic Life support for Healthcare Providers certification from approved program. Required
  • Certified by the national credentialing body, American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM). Upon Hire Required
  • Licensed in the State of Wisconsin as a Registered Nurse. Upon Hire Required
  • Certified in the State of Wisconsin as an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber or pending status. Upon Hire Required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation certification (NRP). Preferred
