Maxmed Healthcare is seeking a Certified Medical Dosimetrist to provide full-time services at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), JBSA-Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Our Certified Medical Dosimetrist will:
- Provide all necessary dosimetry support for the aid of the treatment with the radiation oncologist, obtaining patients contours, registering different image sets sometimes with the aid of Velocity, determining the volumes to be treated, marking of the patient, and other routine services as required.
- Participate with the radiation oncologist in localizing the volume to be treated, appropriately immobilize the patient, and provide dose distributions (isodose plans).
- Verify treatment parameters (to include but not be limited to: field size, SSD/SAD, points of interest, dose per fraction, total dose, wedges, and blocks) by an independent calculation and enter such data on the bottom of the computer printout then sign it before placement in the patient's chart.
- Provide treatment plan to the responsible radiation oncologist for approval before implementation.
- Work with the radiation oncologist and medical physicist in planning LDR and HDR implant procedures, requests the sources, prepares them for use, loads the applicators, cuts the ribbons to the correct length, and is responsible for the safe use of the sources in compliance with the relevant regulations in respect to care, handling, record keeping and use of the radioactive material in the radiation therapy service.

Minimum
Qualifications:
- Degree/ Education: Certified by the American Association of Medical Dosimetrist (AAMD) as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) Shall be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) as a Radiation Therapy Technologist (RTT)
- Education: Graduate from an accredited college or university certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
- Certification: Must be certified by the American of Medical Dosimetrist (AAMD) as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD)
- Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license from the Texas Medical Board

Experience:
- - Possess a minimum of five (5) years recent clinical dosimetry experience in 3D treatment planning to include IGRT and IMRT based techniques under the supervision of a board-certified medical physicist (MP)
- - Possess experience in performing both hand-based and computer-based monitor unit (MU) calculations.
- - Shall have clinical experience with total body photon irradiation (TBI), low dose rate (LDR) and high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy modalities, intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), surface guided radiotherapy (SGRT), stereotactic body radiation therapy(SBRT), stereotactic radiosurgery(SRS), and real-time position management(RPM).
- - Have experience fabricating custom treatment aids, such as custom blocks, shields, compensators, molds, casts, and other immobilization devices.
- - Shall have experience in LDR and HDR brachytherapy.
- - Shall have clinical experience in planning and implementing LDR brachytherapy for prostate applications.
- - Shall have clinical experience in planning and implementing HDR brachytherapy for prostate applications with > 12 catheters.
- - Shall have clinical experience in planning and implementing HDR brachytherapy for gynecologic applications.
- - Shall have clinical experience in planning and implementing HDR brachytherapy for breast applications.
- - Shall have clinical experience in planning and implementing HDR brachytherapy for skin applications.
- - Shall have experience with Varian Aria, Varian Eclipse, Varian Variseed, Velocity, Pinnacle, CMS XiO, Philips CT-LOC and AcQSim, Syntegra, Oncentra, and BrainLAB treatment planning systems.
- - Shall have experience entering and transferring patient prescriptions and treatment parameters into a Varian Eclipse and Aria remote access terminal (verify and record systems) including MLP (beam shaper) workstation.
- - Shall have experience with gynecological and prostate brachytherapy using Oncentra treatment planning system.
- - Shall have had all or part of the required clinical experience obtained in a clinic, which actively participates in national research protocols (Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG), Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG), etc.) and familiarity with the benchmark and dosimetry requirements of these protocols including Radiological Physics Center (RPC) case benchmarking and data collection.
- - Shall have experience with standard and virtual simulation techniques and image fusion for tumor and normal tissue localization to include the use of positron emission tomography (PET), magnetic resonance (MR), and computed tomography (CT) imaging.
- - Shall have experience with Varian Radiotherapy Linear Accelerators including MLC, EPID, IMRT and IGRT, to include performance of basic quality assurance under the direction of a MP or radiotherapy physicist.
- - Shall have experience in TBI treatment planning. TSE treatment planning is a plus.
- - Shall have experience in treatment planning using national protocols (RTOG, SWOG, etc.).
- - Shall have Experience with standard and virtual simulation techniques and image fusion to include PET, MR, and CT images.
- - Shall have Dosimetry experience in photon total body irradiation and electron total body irradiation.
- - Shall have experience using Syntegra (Philips) for treatment planning.
- - Shall have experience as a contract dosimetrist in a DOD clinical facility that sees emergency room patients.
