General Summary: A non-exempt position responsible for providing primary care to patients, including assessment, treatment, care planning, and medical care evaluation. Able to travel to all clinical locations within the company. Workdays are Monday-Friday or Monday-Thursday, 40 hrs. per week.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Administers and conducts training on subcutaneous allergy shots, Sublingual Immunotherapy (SLIT), vaccine new starts and re-orders, biologic injections, IM medications, immunizations, recognition, and management of anaphylaxis, intravenous (IV) starts, nebulizer treatments.
2. Monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.
3. Work closely with the Clinical Site & Laboratory Manager for vaccine production, Clinical Training Manager, Site Managers, to establish policy and procedures for the shot room, review, and address training needs.
4. Obtains patient consent for care and ensures patient confidentiality. Obtains and documents health history, information on chief complaint, vital signs, and health risk factors and assesses disease condition. Provides patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
5. Ensures shot room task box is empty daily and all task requests are addressed within 48 hours from initial request.
6. Delegates as allowed under the Nurse Practice Act. Refers to/consults with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent/resolve problems or concerns. Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
7. Participates in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes. Tracks quality assurance data and monitors for acute and chronic care management.
8. Supervises and gives guidance to clinical staff in decision-making regarding patient care.
9. Works as a vital part of CAAC’s leadership team to ensure clinical quality measures for the shot room.
10. Performs assigned administrative duties pertaining to the shot room.
11. Ability to attend educational opportunities as scheduled.
12. Performs other duties as directed by manager and/or director or MD.
Education: RMA/CMA/CCMA certification required.
Experience: Minimum three years of shot room experience at CAAC.
Other Requirements: Current BLS certificate.
