How You'll Contribute

A Certified Medical Assistant who excels in this role:

• Provides basic patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Monitors and records vital signs, intake and output, and reports changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, and ambulation.
• Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings.
• Maintains patient rooms and common areas to ensure a clean, safe, and organized care environment.
• Supports nursing and physician staff with patient care activities and unit workflow.
• Manages tech desk operations and assists with maintaining efficient department throughput.
• Documents patient care and activities in accordance with hospital and unit standards.
• Participates in required education, competency validation, and performance improvement activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Licensure

• National Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant required.

Certifications

• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Handle with Care certification preferred.
• Athena knowledge preferred

Southern Tennessee Regional Health System-Pulaski is a 157-bed facility that includes 131 licensed acute care beds and 26 skilled nursing home beds. Fully accredited by The Joint Commission, the hospital offers a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services supported by a highly skilled and diverse medical staff. Key services include a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a 12-bed Geriatric Psychiatry Unit, a 12-bed Acute Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation Unit, a Skilled Nursing Unit, Sleep Lab, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, five Operating Rooms, and two Endoscopy Suites. Advanced diagnostic imaging services include MRI, CT, PET/CT, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, and X-ray. The hospital's 13-bay Emergency Department treats more than 15,000 patients annually.

Southern Tennessee Regional Health System-Pulaski, located on the campus of the University of the South, is a 41-bed facility offering 21 general acute care beds and 20 skilled nursing beds. The campus includes a 4-bay Emergency Department that cares for more than 5,000 patients each year. Known for its personalized approach to healthcare and strong community connections, the Sewanee campus delivers exceptional care in a collaborative environment.
