Field Certified Medical Assistant – Jackson, MS

Position Summary:

The Field Medical Assistant (MA) works alongside a Nurse Practitioner to provide in-home medical visits to patients throughout the Southshore region, including New Orleans and surrounding communities. This role requires a highly organized, flexible, and dependable individual who is comfortable working in the field, traveling between patient homes, and assisting with medical provider assessments.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred
  • Previous experience in home health or hospice strongly preferred
  • Experience assisting medical providers with patient assessments and clinical documentation
  • Ability to work independently in a field-based environment while supporting a Nurse Practitioner during patient visits
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Southshore/New Orleans area for patient visits
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently while in the field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Ability to remain flexible and adapt to a changing daily schedule and patient needs
  • Comfortable entering patient homes and working in various environments
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and mobile documentation tools preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel with and support the Nurse Practitioner during in-home patient visits
  • Assist with vital signs, patient history, medication reconciliation, and documentation
  • Prepare and maintain necessary clinical supplies for field visits
  • Facilitate communication between the provider, patient, and care team
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Support coordination of care and follow-up needs identified during visits

Sage Specialty Hospital (LTAC) offers patients with complex medical conditions the continued intensive medical care they need when discharged from a traditional acute care hospital but need additional time to recover before they can go home or be admitted to a rehabilitation hospital or skilled nursing facility.

Capitol House provides a "home away from home"​ for those unable to remain living in their own residence. Offering rehab, respiratory services (including vent management), skilled nursing and more, the staff at Capitol House is qualified and compassionate.

Companion Home Services helps each client feel comfortable and confident in their homes.
