Job Description

As a Lifeguard, you will operate waterslides by enforcing state rules and regulations and help maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary pool/waterpark area while ensuring all safety equipment is present at and around the pool area at all times. This is a seasonal position that will start May 2026.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to have and/or obtain a valid lifeguard certification prior to their first day of employment. The certification must remain valid through the entire season (season ends September 30, 2026).

This is a seasonal position that may require flexible scheduling availability.

Requirements

  • Operate water slides by enforcing safety rules and regulations for water slides and discharge lanes
  • Complete all daily water slide inspections/reports as required by the state
  • Complete opening tasks such as cabana set up, removal of pool robot vacuum, pool deck checks, etc.
  • Supervise guests' behavior on the water slides, water splay structure, and surrounding areas
  • Document as required by state and local regulations
  • Ensure all posted pool rules are being adhered to
  • Maintain pool area cleanliness
  • Complete closing tasks, such as sweeping the pool deck, cleaning cabans, straightening the pool furniture, taking out trash, etc.
  • Ensure state capacity is not exceeded
  • Ensure safety equipment is present and in working order
  • Check the first aid kit for needed supplies on a daily basis

Job Qualifications:

  • Valid Lifeguard Certification (required) Employees must obtain their own lifeguard certification before starting employment
  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use email and the internet
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The number of hours you will be scheduled to work during the week is variable and is based on guest occupancy, season, staffing and other factors. Island Hospitality is unable to guarantee a specific number of work hours per week.
