Job Description

NaphCare is hiring a Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) to join our team of medical professionals in the Eyman Facility in Florence, AZ

As a Correctional Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT), you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide direct patient care and assist with hemodialysis treatments and related tasks to the individuals in residence. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex mental health and medical needs.

Responsibilities

The Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) provides direct patient care during hemodialysis treatments, assists with monitoring patients, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe and clean environment under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Responsibilities may include but not be limited to:

  • Observing patients during hemodialysis, monitoring vital signs, and reporting any changes in condition to the nurse.
  • Preparing and maintaining dialysis machines, ensuring proper sterilization, and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Assisting with cannulation, administering medications like heparin, and providing basic care for vascular access sites.
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Educating patients about dialysis, post-dialysis care, and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Responding quickly and efficiently to any emergency situations that may arise during treatment.
  • Accurately recording patient information, treatment details, and any relevant observations in medical records.
  • Maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality of all medical information
  • Effectively communicating with patients, other healthcare staff, and correctional staff

Qualifications

Position Qualifications/Requirements/Preferred Experience:

  • Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) or equivalent, or the ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe
  • Must hold High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Physical Capabilities:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
