As a Certified Aide at MercyOne, you will provide direct patient care and support services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This role assists patients with activities of daily living, promotes comfort and safety, monitors and reports changes in patient condition, and contributes to a positive patient experience. The CNA plays a vital role in supporting the healthcare team by delivering compassionate, high-quality care that helps ensure optimal patient outcomes in an acute care hospital setting.

What You'll Do:

• Assists patients with personal care needs, including bathing, hygiene, dressing, grooming, feeding, mobility, toileting, repositioning, and other supportive care activities.
• Safely transfers, lifts, repositions, and ambulates patients using approved patient handling techniques and appropriate equipment, reporting changes in mobility or functional status to the nursing team.
• Responds promptly to call lights and patient requests, anticipating needs and contributing to a positive patient experience.
• Collects, labels, and transports specimens according to established procedures and infection prevention standards.
• Performs post-mortem care in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Collaborates with nurses, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to support quality patient outcomes and continuity of care.

Schedule:

• Full time, 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week)
• Day shift 6:00am - 2:00pm
• Rotating weekends (two weekends in a six-week period)
• Holiday rotation required

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 16 years old.
• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification and registration required.
• Completion of the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Mandatory Reporter training specific to the population served within three (3) months of hire. Colleagues employed and working solely in facilities located in Illinois are exempt from this requirement in accordance with applicable state requirements.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

MercyOne Dyersville Medical Center is a 20-bed critical access hospital serving 17 rural communities in western Dubuque County. As a Level IV Community Trauma Care Facility, it offers 24/7 emergency and trauma services, along with acute and skilled inpatient care, ambulatory surgery, home care and specialty clinics. The center includes a fully equipped laboratory, imaging services, retail pharmacy with drive thru and delivery, and Phase II cardiac rehabilitation tailored to those recovering from heart events. Outpatient and inpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy are available locally to help patients regain function and independence.
