The Division of the State Fire Marshal keeps Ohioans safe when they are at home, and out and about. This includes modernizing and enforcing the Ohio Fire Code; training and certifying firefighters; teaching fire prevention and safety education to businesses, industry, schools and the public; investigating the origin and cause of fires and explosions; and regulating and licensing fireworks companies, underground storage tanks and other fire-related industries.

  • • Review, process, and maintain applications for licensure, certification, registration and permitting in accordance with state laws, regulations, and agency policies.

  • • Maintain organized electronic records, verify applicant information, and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance requirements.

  • • Identify discrepancies or missing information and follow up with applicants or supervisors to provide guidance to applicants and resolve issues promptly.

  • • Deliver high-quality customer service in a high volume call environment while simultaneously managing and processing tasks within the assigned work queue.

Qualifications

12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in reviewing applicants' eligibility to take examinations, test administration & scoring & compiling statistics concerning test results; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in typing, word processing or data entry using video display terminal.

-Or 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in clerical/secretarial or other administrative support position involving public contact & preparation of correspondence & reports; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in typing, word processing or data entry using video display terminal.

-Or 12 mos. exp. as Certification/ Licensure Examiner 1, 16841.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
