What you are going to do

You evaluate products that are applied in areas with an explosion hazard following norm schemes like ATEX. This is done on basis of drawing, test results, manuals and – in some cases – of simulation results.

You will be working in a group of enthusiastic and highly qualified specialists in the field of product type approval, audits and trainings. When you start with us, you will commence with a training program for Certification Engineer. On basis of already present knowledge and experience, such a program takes about a year. You will be coached by a designated mentor and during this period you work in projects for clients.

Once you’re qualified, you manage your own projects in close cooperation with a support officer. You are the point of contact for the client. You’re involved in the sales process by giving input for quotations. Upon commencing of the project, you will be making the project plan for a successful project from start to finish. Required tests are conducted in our laboratory in Arnhem.

The products that you evaluate include for example weighing scales, temperature, pressure, flow or vibration sensors, transmitters, PLC’s, barriers, et cetera. Typically, you run several projects in parallel as they have an intermittent character. You work in a team with six engineers working in the field of intrinsic safety, and 20 other colleagues in the team of Explosion Safety.

There are several ways to grow in our team. You can qualify for multiple methods of protections and certification schemes, and you can gain experience with more complex or a broader range of to be certified products. You can qualify as reviewer where you review product evaluations of colleagues or qualify as certification manager that issues the certificate. Also, you can qualify as auditor where you perform an on-site audit at the client’s production facility of the quality system and, importantly, if the as-produced product is equal the certified product. And, over time, you could move your interest to sales, business development or the maintenance of our various accreditations (ATEX, IECEx, et cetera).

Our clients are located worldwide, the majority based in Northwest Europe. You will be working in an international environment. Travelling is a possibility, of course in consultation with the employee. There is a variety of work and challenges!

Responsibilities

• Point of contact for the client;

• Delivering input for quotations to sales;

• Making of project plans and work at multiple projects at the same time;

• Evaluate products, units and / or installations for explosion safety;

• Reporting.

Your profile

• You have a master degree in (technical) physics or a comparable technical university degree;

• Knowledge about regulations in the field of explosion safety is beneficial, such as ATEX 114/IECEx02 and /or safe working environment ATEX 153 and relevant norms;

• You can easily switch between different projects;

• You are a good communicator;

• Sufficient command of the Dutch and English language, command of the German language is beneficial;

• Prepared to travel internationally.
