The Certification Engineer will focus on equipment qualification for wind and seismic loading on mechanical and electrical equipment and other non-structural components (learn more at http://trucompliance.com/). They will work under the supervision of licensed structural and civil engineers to help clients obtain International Building Code (or other relevant code) certification based on analysis and/or testing. The Engineer may also have the opportunity to participate in engineering analysis and design with other divisions of the company in nuclear, healthcare, dams and waterways, defense, and other industrial practice areas.
Primary Responsibilities: Oversee full-scale shake table testing of equipment (including travel to labs)Develop reports and documentation for IBC seismic and wind complianceReview product information provided by manufacturers and understand product variationsSupport program managers with Client interactionsEvaluate non-standard structural members and equipment componentsPerform structural analysis of equipment and other non-structural systems for wind and seismic loadingDesign anchorage for non-structural components
Required Skills/Qualifications:BS in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or related engineering discipline from an ABET accredited universityEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hireDemonstrated academic or professional experience using hand calculations and/or structural analysis computer software to calculate demands and capacities of structural systemsSelf-motivated and eager to learnExcellent written and oral communication skillsWillingness and ability to travel (up to 20% of time)
Desired:MS/MEng in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline from an ABET accredited university Proficient in ANSYS, ABAQUS, SAP2000, LS-DYNA, Matlab, Mathcad, AutoCAD/Revit, Solidworks or other similar softwareComputer programming skills related to database construction and querying, signal processing, or task automationKnowledge of seismic analysis, code-based steel and concrete design, blast analysis, nonlinear structural analysis
