Join Us as a Certification Engineer!

At ORBCOMM, we’re looking for a highly skilled Certification Engineer to lead global compliance and certification efforts for our industrial IoT hardware platforms. In this role, you’ll ensure our products meet international regulatory standards, drive certification programs across multiple product lines, and collaborate with global teams to bring rugged, connected devices to market with confidence. This is an exciting opportunity to influence product readiness, reduce risks, and support ORBCOMM’s global expansion.

As a key member of our Hardware Engineering organization, you will oversee certification programs across North America, Europe, LATAM, and APAC—impacting products used by customers worldwide. You’ll work closely with hardware, firmware, manufacturing, and product teams to embed compliance early in development and ensure market readiness.

What You’ll Do:

Global Certification & Compliance

• Manage certification processes for IIoT hardware across global markets including North America, EU, APAC, and LATAM.
• Ensure compliance with industrial regulatory standards such as FCC, CE, UL, CSA, IEC, ATEX, and other industrial certifications.
• Coordinate with global certification bodies and test labs to execute EMC, safety, wireless, and environmental testing.

Industrial Standards & Regulatory Expertise

• Interpret and apply standards including IEC 61000, IEC 62368, EN 12830, and related industrial guidelines.
• Ensure certification readiness for wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa, and global cellular networks.

Project & Program Management

• Lead certification programs across multiple product lines, ensuring alignment with development timelines and go-to-market targets.
• Develop and maintain certification roadmaps, resource plans, and schedules.
• Track program progress, identify risks, and drive resolution to ensure market readiness.
• Communicate milestones and program status to cross-functional teams and leadership.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with hardware, firmware, product, and manufacturing teams early in the design cycle.
• Provide design-for-compliance guidance to ensure certification success.

Regulatory Intelligence & Risk Management

• Monitor global regulatory changes and evaluate impact on current and future product lines.
• Identify certification risks and develop mitigation strategies to support product development and market expansion.

Who You Are:

You’re a strategic thinker with a knack for operational excellence, ready to tackle multiple priorities with agility and grace. If you have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in hardware certification, ideally in industrial or embedded systems.
• Strong knowledge of global regulatory frameworks for industrial electronics and wireless-enabled devices.
• Proven experience managing certification programs across global teams.
• Excellent communication, organization, and project/program management skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with IIoT platforms, industrial gateways, or edge computing devices.
• Familiarity with wireless certifications such as PTCRB, RED, or GCF.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity certification frameworks (e.g., EN 18031).
• Experience with PLM tools and compliance tracking systems. 
• Leverage AI-enabled tools and automation to support daily tasks and productivity.
• Commitment to continuous learning in digital and AI literacy.
