The Certified Medical Assistant II provides medical assistance under the supervision of the physician, physician's assistant, or nursing staff.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:

  1. Assists with patient care by completing screening questions, medication reviews, obtaining vital signs, and recording height, weight, and other patient data as required.

  2. Prepares exam space for scheduled procedures.

  3. Documents all care provided in the electronic medical record.

  4. Delivers care appropriate for the patient’s age and development.

  5. Ensures exam rooms, supply rooms and other areas of the clinic are clean and well stocked.

  6. Cleans equipment according to instructions for use and ensures equipment has current safety inspection dates.

  7. Assists with scheduling appointments, completes electronic patient messages, medication refill requests and patient forms.

  8. Collects lab specimens as directed.

  9. Administers approved medications as directed.

Qualifications:


Required Qualifications:

  • Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Current certification from a national registry as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
  • Certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management; must be obtained while in department orientation and maintained throughout employment when working within the Behavioral Health Department.
  • Certified Medical Assistant II: 2-4.99 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
  • Certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management; must be obtained while in department orientation and maintained throughout employment when working within the Behavioral Health setting.
