Amazon Prime Air is seeking an experienced Certification and Regulatory Affairs Specialist for Drone Delivery. This role is part of our Regulatory Affairs team and responsible for executing projects and initiatives to support the integration of our airspace, operations, and airworthiness/certification processes for drones across Prime Air, with a focus in the European Region (EU/UK).

Working in the Regulatory Team at Prime Air, you will act on the forefront to bring Drone Delivery to reality in our focus markets. We are a highly motivated team driving solutions and regulation forward in this innovative space.

Key job responsibilities
• Develop and coordinate airspace authorization, operational approval, and airworthiness/certification deliverables (e.g., Airspace Risk Assessments, Operational Manuals, Noise Study Reports, Design Verification Artifacts, SORA/SAIL documentation) in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including aviation authorities.
• Partner with internal stakeholders — including airworthiness engineers, airspace integration teams, flight operations, and safety teams — to drive consistency and efficiency in the development of:
• Airspace approvals (e.g., airspace authorizations, UTM/U-space integration, temporary danger areas, flight restriction zone exemptions)
• Operational approvals (e.g., Operations Authorizations, Specific Operations Risk Assessments (SORA), Light UAS Operator Certificate (LUC), SAIL II/SAIL IV approvals)
• Airworthiness/certification deliverables (e.g., Design Verification Reports, Special Conditions compliance,)
for EU and UK site launches.
• Act as Regulatory Team focal point to coordinate specific EU and UK site launch deliverables, including managing external stakeholder engagement to obtain all necessary airspace, operational, and airworthiness approvals required to operate those sites.
• Lead and support engagement with National Aviation Authorities (e.g., EASA, UK CAA, LBA, AESA) and Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) on airspace access, operational permissions, and certification matters.
• Support the preparation and submission of comprehensive regulatory application packages for new site launches, covering airspace, operations, and airworthiness requirements.

Basic Qualifications


- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering
- Experience in program or project management
- Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
- Extensive experience working directly with EASA and/or CAA on airspace authorizations, Type Certification, Airworthiness, or operational approval projects and familiarity with EU Basic Regulations and associated means of compliance and guidance materials for drones.
- Experience working with aviation airspace management, certification, and/or regulatory approval processes and procedures.
- Understanding of the interplay between airspace access, operational approvals, and airworthiness certification in the context of drone operations.
- Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, science, technology field, or equivalent industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

- 3+ years of experience working directly with EASA and/or CAAs on airspace authorizations, Type Certification, Airworthiness, or operational approval projects including familiarity with EU Basic Regulations and associated means of compliance and guidance materials for drones.
- Experience in key areas such as EU Implementing Regulations (2019/947) and Delegated Regulations (2019/945) and related acceptable means of compliance and guidance materials for EU drone operations
- Experience with airspace integration frameworks, including U-space regulations (EU 2021/664), UTM concepts, and coordination with ANSPs for drone corridor and airspace access approvals
- Experience with Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) methodology, including SAIL determination, Operational Safety Objectives (OSOs), and ground/air risk mitigation
