Ceramic Powder Academic Practicum Experience
The project encompasses exploring novel BN powder morphologies, evaluating new BN/SA blends, and characterizing their performance in polymer composites
Responsibilities:
This internship is designed as an Academic Practicum Experience. Where applicable the student may coordinate with their academic institution to align the internship with coursework, independent study, or credit-based learning objectives.
The student will observe and participate in supervised laboratory activities related to powder preparation and composite formulation as a part of a structured learning experience.
The student will evaluate BN and SA powder characteristics such as particle size, particle morphology, specific surface area, density, and crystallinity, as well as filler-polymer composite performance metrics such as thermal conductivity and viscosity in organic matrices.
The student will work supervised with a team with engineers to evaluate different approaches, formulate test plans, design experiments using six sigma tools, execute these tests, and analyze the data.
The student will gain experience in writing technical reports and will have the opportunity to present the results to a technical audience
This intern project will be carried out in collaboration with and under the guidance of a team of experienced engineers. The students will be provided with necessary supervision, training and support, such as statistical skills training, tools & resources throughout their work.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor student in materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, polymer science, bioengineering, chemistry, physics, biology or related field
Independent research capability and good at working ‘hands on’
Should have excellent verbal & written communication and listening skills, and a minimum GPA of 3.5.
A positive attitude showing initiative & drive, high quality of work, and attention to detail.
The Ceramic Powder Academic Practicum Participant is an unpaid internship designed to provide the student with real-world, hands-on training aligned with their coursework.
