Job Description

Our client is an established international financial services organisation. They specialise in commercial lending and leasing and operate across multiple continents. Their clients are primarily mid-sized to large corporations. The Shanghai office is a key part of their global business and has a stable, experienced team.

They are looking for an experienced General Manager and CEO to lead the China business on a fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for performance, people and strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full operation of the subsidiary and take accountability for business results and compliance.

• Develop and execute commercial strategy in line with group direction.

• Own the P&L, including budget management, cost control and KPI delivery within a matrix structure.

• Lead a team of approximately eight direct reports and build a high-performance culture.

• Drive business development and strengthen client and vendor relationships.

• Oversee all key functions including risk, portfolio management, collections, legal, finance and IT.

• Represent the subsidiary within the broader international group.

• Embed a performance culture that reflects both German and Chinese business values.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent, preferably in economics, finance or business.

• Ten or more years of experience in commercial lending and/or leasing.

• At least three years of leadership experience in an international setting.

• Proven experience managing a comparable business with full P&L responsibility.

• Solid background across sales, credit, operations and portfolio management.

• Fluent English. Chinese language skills are highly desirable.

• Strong understanding of Chinese business culture.

• Familiarity with German corporate culture and working practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a vendor finance or global vendor environment.

• Background in a global bank or international financial institution.

• Experience in middle to large-ticket end-user financing.

• An existing professional network in China's financial services or asset finance sector.

Benefits

Our client offers a competitive base salary with a performance-related bonus of approximately 30% of total compensation. Full package details, including medical insurance and statutory benefits, will be shared at interview.

Annual leave is provided in line with Chinese statutory requirements. Employees also receive all national public holidays.

Relocation support is available for domestic and international candidates. Visa assistance will be considered where required.
