Our Client, a growing Electronic Money Institution (EMI) operating in the digital payments and financial technology space, is seeking an experienced Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organizations strategic direction, operational performance, financial growth, and regulatory compliance.
The CEO will drive digital financial inclusion initiatives, oversee product innovation, ensure operational excellence, and position the institution as a leading fintech player in Afghanistan.
Develop and execute long-term business strategy in alignment with the Clients vision and market opportunities.
Drive innovation in digital payments, mobile wallet solutions, and customer experience.
Identify new markets, strategic partnerships, and revenue opportunities.
Ensure business strategies adapt to Afghanistans regulatory and economic environment.
Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency, scalability, and regulatory compliance.
Lead product development and digital transformation initiatives.
Build and implement robust risk management, cybersecurity, and fraud-prevention frameworks.
Ensure platform interoperability with national and international payment systems.
Oversee budgeting, financial reporting, and overall financial performance.
Lead fundraising, investor relations, and financial planning.
Maintain sustainable cost structures while supporting innovation and growth.
Ensure full compliance with Afghanistans central bank regulations, AML/CFT frameworks, and data protection standards.
Build strong relationships with financial regulators and relevant government bodies.
Implement effective internal controls and compliance systems.
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing senior management team.
Foster a culture of integrity, accountability, innovation, and customer-centricity.
Oversee talent development and succession planning.
Represent the Client in meetings with investors, partners, regulators, and strategic stakeholders.
Maintain strong relationships with telecom operators, banks, NGOs, and international partners.
Act as the primary spokesperson for the organization.
Masters degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field (MBA preferred).
Minimum 10+ years of senior leadership experience in banking, fintech, digital payments, or financial services.
Proven experience driving large-scale digital transformation projects.
Strong background in risk management, AML/CFT, cybersecurity, and compliance.
Experience engaging with central banks or financial regulatory authorities.
Exposure to humanitarian, financial inclusion, or development finance projects is an advantage.
Visionary leadership with strong strategic execution capability.
Excellent knowledge of fintech innovations and global digital payments ecosystems.
Strong financial management, commercial acumen, and decision-making skills.
Exceptional stakeholder management and communication abilities.
High integrity, professionalism, and ability to lead in challenging environments.
