Job Description

About the role
As Centre Manager North Bellarine Aquatic Centre, you will lead the operational readiness, opening and ongoing management of one of the City of Greater Geelong's newest and most exciting leisure facilities. Responsible for a diverse aquatic, fitness and recreation venue, you will oversee all aspects of operations including staffing, financial performance, customer experience, programming, safety and asset management. Leading a team of up to 100 employees, you will play a critical role in establishing a positive culture, driving membership growth, fostering community connections and ensuring the centre becomes a thriving destination for health, wellbeing and recreation across the Bellarine region.

Work type: Permanent, full-time position
Classification: Band 7 $109,342 pa plus super

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the successful operational readiness, activation and opening of the full North Bellarine Aquatic Centre.
  • Build, inspire and develop a high-performing team focused on safety, customer service and operational excellence.
  • Manage centre operations including budgets, workforce planning, compliance, asset management and facility presentation.
  • Drive membership growth, learn-to-swim enrolments and participation through innovative programs and community engagement initiatives.
  • Monitor business performance, analyse operational data and implement strategies to improve service delivery and financial outcomes.
  • Develop strong relationships with customers, community groups, stakeholders and industry partners to maximise centre utilisation and community impact.

About you

You are an experienced and passionate leader within the leisure, aquatic or recreation industry who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys building high-performing teams. With strong operational and people leadership skills, you can confidently manage complex facilities, drive business performance and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

You are highly organised, commercially minded and motivated by the opportunity to play a key role in the successful opening and ongoing operation of a major new community facility. Most importantly, you are committed to creating safe, inclusive and welcoming environments that encourage participation and support community wellbeing.

Essential Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant or a related discipline (e.g. Leisure and Sports. Management) with related experience, or less formal qualifications and extensive related experience.
  • Proven experience in the leisure and recreation industry, including a minimum of 5 years’ experience within a management role in the industry.
  • Employee Working With Children Check.
  • Provide First Aid, Current CPR Certificate.
  • Current Pool Lifeguard qualification.
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
  • Chief Warden training completed or willingness to obtain.
