A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Assistant Director or Centre Director to take ownership of a brand-new service and help build it from the beginning.

About the opportunity

This is a chance to take on a leadership role where you are not simply inheriting somebody else's systems, culture and way of doing things. You will join a new service in the Wollongong area focused on children aged two to five, and you will be involved before the doors open.

You will have real input into the team, culture and day-to-day way the service runs, with the opportunity to help shape how it feels for children, families and educators from the very beginning. The service will be intentionally small, which means you can stay close to the people and the practice while still having genuine leadership responsibility.

The role would suit an experienced Centre Director, but it could also be an excellent next step for a strong Assistant Director who has already been carrying substantial leadership responsibility and is ready to take ownership of a service.

You will also be joining an organisation that is continuing to grow, so for the right person, there is potential for the role to develop into broader leadership responsibility over time.

About you

You will be a capable early childhood leader who enjoys taking responsibility and creating something well.

• Centre Director experience, or substantial Assistant Director experience with genuine leadership responsibility
• Strong operational, compliance and people-management capability
• Confident working autonomously and making sound decisions
• Comfortable building and developing a team
• Strong understanding of family relationships, staffing and regulatory requirements
• Experience opening a new service, establishing systems or leading significant change would be highly regarded
• ACECQA-approved early childhood qualification
• Actively practising Christian with meaningful involvement in a local church
• Comfortable discussing your faith and how it influences the way you lead
• Able to provide an appropriate church or ministry referee

You do not need to have already held the title of Centre Director if you can demonstrate that you have the maturity, judgement and experience to step into the role successfully.
