Position Summary
The Trainer is responsible for facilitating hands-on foundational training for newly hired team members participating in the Goodwill Centralized Workforce Readiness Program. This position delivers standardized operational training, reinforces safety and workflow expectations, validates foundational competencies, and supports team members as they transition into the workplace.
The Trainer serves as a role model for operational standards, professionalism, safety, customer service, and Goodwill culture while creating a structured, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities
Training Delivery and Administration
- Conducts hands-on operational training for newly hired team members
- Demonstrates job tasks, workflow processes, and operational expectations
- Explains required competencies needed for the task and how they are applied
- Facilitates classroom discussions, knowledge chats, and practical exercises
- Provides training coverage at any location for assigned trainers during absences, vacancies,
operational needs, or schedule adjustments
- Travels between training, warehouse, and retail locations, as assigned
- Guides trainees through workstation activities and role-based learning exercises
- Reinforces foundational production, quality, safety, and customer service standards
- Assists in updating, editing, and preparing training materials and resources
- Travels between training, warehouse, and retail locations, as assigned

Hands-On Skill Development
- Coaches trainees through operational tasks, competencies, and workflow execution
- Demonstrates proper use of tools, supplies, equipment, and workstations
- Reinforces proper lifting techniques and workplace safety standards
- Provides real-time correction, feedback, and reinforcement
- Encourages trainee engagement, participation, and confidence building
Proficiency Validation
- Evaluates trainees using standardized proficiency checklists
- Documents trainee progress, coaching provided, and readiness status
- Documents competency readiness
- Completes trainer check-ins and training documentation accurately
- Identifies trainees requiring additional reinforcement or support
- Partners with leadership regarding trainee progress and operational readiness
Operational Standards
- Maintains organized and effective training stations
- Ensures training areas remain safe, clean, and operationally prepared
- Reinforces workflow consistency and Goodwill quality standards
- Models professionalism, accountability, and teamwork at all times
Culture & Team Member Experience
- Reinforces Goodwill’s mission, values, competencies, and culture
- Creates a welcoming and positive onboarding experience
- Encourages professionalism, communication, and engagement

QualificationsEducation, Experience and Requirements
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent required Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of operational, retail, warehouse, production, customer service, or training-related experience
- Demonstrated ability to perform operational job functions at a consistent level
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or assisting others preferred
- Experience working in fast-paced operational environments required
- Ability to demonstrate operational tasks and procedures effectively
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to present in a classroom setting
- Ability to provide coaching and constructive feedback
- Ability to follow standardized training procedures and curriculum
- Ability to maintain professionalism and patience in training environments
- Ability to complete evaluations and documentation accurately
- Ability to reinforce safety and operational expectations consistently
- Basic computer proficiency preferred
