The Central Supply Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the central supply department which includes:

• Inventorying, dispensing and re-ordering all medical supplies and equipment in Central Supply, and patient floor supply rooms and
alliance sites
• Manages all medical equipment/supply requisitions [standard, custom or bulk],
• Resolves supply and services issues.

The Central Supply Coordinator will:

  • Perform all of the basic functions and tasks of a Central Supply Technician (CST), as necessary when department workload mandates.

  • Provides direct supervision of all CSTs and their activities.

  • Trains, coaches and evaluates staff performance related to their job functions.

  • Coordinates all supply/equipment requests, Interfaces with clients to resolve patient floor supply issues, and patient transport issues

  • Assigns Central Supply staff to tasks and reassigns as necessary to reflect changes in priorities, staffing, census and nursing needs.

  • Maintains Par X inventory levels of clean and bulk supplies in Central Supply Main Room on 26th floor

  • Monitors and manages the daily Outside Appointment calendar and add on patient transport requests.

  • Monitors and manages the assignments for in-patient transports and add on patient transport requests.

  • Enters information in inventory and purchase requisitions systems.

  • When assigned by Central Supply Manager, serves as a representative on the CPR committee Assures that Crash Carts and ROC STAT Carts are properly supplied, replenished after use and deployed

  • Manages ordering, inventory, and schedules /manages preventive maintenance conducted by rental vendors.

  • Prepares equipment charges, and equipment usage reports to rental vendors for accounting

  • Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports directly to the Manager, Central Supply and Materials Distribution

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent required

  • One to two years’ experience in a central service environment.

  • Ability to perform calculations and inventory data analysis

  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of MS Office applications, and automated information systems related to patient charging, product inventory and purchasing/procurement.

  • Demonstrated success in all CST basic job functions

  • Successful completion of CS Coordinator orientation

  • Ability to prioritize, organize multiple tasks.

  • Communicates effectively using timely verbal, nonverbal and written communication.

  • Proactively takes ownership for serving the customer, team and organization for achieving goals and for resolving problems.

  • Willing adapts to changing work demands and work environment

Working Conditions

  • Potential exposure to dust, while working around stockrooms and storage areas.

  • Potential exposure to vehicle exhaust fumes, air/surface conditions and outdoor temperature extremes when working around the receiving dock or operating patient transports.

  • Occasional exposure to infectious diseases when working with soiled equipment
