
The Sterile Processing Technician I performs routine work in the decontamination, assembly, testing, and
distribution of medical equipment, supplies, and instruments in a medical facility.
This is the first level of a three-level series. It is distinguished from the higher levels by the absence of
responsibility for performing advanced and complicated sterilization, assembly and testing of medical
equipment, supplies and instruments. Employees in this level may be in training to perform Central Services Technician II duties.
Work in a variety of assignments, work with detergents, enzymes, germicide, and other related chemicals, must be able to interpret color changes to external chemical indicators, basic computer skills, must be willing and able to work at a variety of department locations, must be able to ride the arial tram to and from waterfront location.
