
To develop and implement policies and procedures for the department adhering to the guidelines set forth by AAI, OSHA, and HFAP. To act as a resource person for sterilization techniques for the staff and other departmental areas within the organization. To facilitate duties performed by the Central Sterile staff through continuing education and in-services. To assign and schedule staff so they may perform and function to their fullest capabilities.

1. Interacts as a team player and participates in continuous quality i mprov ement activities within the depart ment and organization, supporting HRH and d epart ment QI p lan including Peer Review, data gathering, and change process.
2. Per for ms daily qu ality control chec ks of equipment and pr ocessed supplies to insure that work assign ments are completed.
3. Works closely with nursing depart men ts and Infection Control to ensure that procedures for the handling and transporting of equip ment utilized on patie nts are met.
4. Assists in the co mpletion of perfo rmance evaluations; provides feedback and counseling related to perfor man ce/attendance; and maintains docu mentation of disciplinary actions.
5. Makes recommendations for personn el changes to the Director.
6. Conducts and supervised the training of new associates.
7. Initiates wo rk order for equip ment/instru ments r epair as nee ded.
Patie nt Sati sfaction
1. Collaborates with other health care providers r egarding the plan of intra-operative cares, including instr ument/supply set up prior to case.
2. Maintain professional environ ment and keep noise to a minimum at all ti mes.
3. Exe mplifies excellent guests’ relations to patients, visitors, and physicians and co-workers.
Patient Safety
1. Responsible for accurate and meticulous docu mentation of all sterilizer charts, record books, and biological records.
2.Initiates product recall, when required.
3. I mpl ements instru ment and equip ment trials as needed.

Custo mer Service
1. Establish and Maintains strong relat ionships with all custo mers, focusing on physicians, provider pract ices, anesthesia and public.
2. Coordinates dispatching and proce ssing of equip ment and supplies to various hospital departments and o ffsite faciliti es.
3. Acts as a resource person for new physicians between the Operating Room and Central Sterile.
4. Engages patient, fa mily, and significant others through the practice of AIDET (Acknowledge, Identify, Duration, Explanation, Thank You)
Education/Experience:
Previous supervisory and sterile processing experience preferred. RN, LPN, or Certified Surgical Tech with 10 plus years of CSS experience strongly considered.
License or Certificati on:
Certi fied R egist ered Ce ntr al Ste rile Techni cian (CRCST) required. LPN, RN, Certi fied S urgic al Tech nician license as applicable.
