Evening - 08 Hour (United States of America)

This is a Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley job.

A Brief Overview
Disassembles, cleans, assembles, sterilizes, and stores procedure trays, instruments, equipment and supplies according to prescribed procedures and aseptic technique under direct supervision. Completes requests to dispense equipment and supplies and assists in maintaining and processing patient charge records and maintaining department inventory.

What you will do

  • Sterilizes instruments, equipment, linen and supplies using various types of autoclaves.
  • Loads autoclaves in the prescribed manner and set controls to specified time and temperature according to manufacturer’s requirements of items being sterilized. Reads autoclave graph to verify appropriate sterilization cycle and provides required records for inspection.
  • Assembles all instrument procedure trays and packs according to the prescribed manner using count sheets. Wraps and handles packages for sterilization following the procedure.
  • Communicates with supervisor when unable to replace parts or when equipment is deficient in the work area to keep accurate count sheets.
  • Dispenses sterile and non-sterile equipment and supplies per department request.
  • Disassembles, cleans, reassembles and tests portable equipment using approved disinfectants, detergents, soaps and cleaners to ensure proper functioning
  • Assists in orientation of new employees to each work assignment area and overall department operation.
  • Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital. C-I-CARE is the foundation of Stanford Healthcare – ValleyCare’s patient-experience and represents a framework for patient-centered interactions


Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Required


Experience Qualifications

  • 1+ year to 2 years applicable experience Preferred
  • Completion of Central Service Technician training Required


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic computer skill
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance, Safety and Infection Control guidelines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong command of the English language – reading, writing and speaking.
  • Strong interpersonal skills


Licenses and Certifications

  • Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare
    Providers required
  • CRCST - Certified Registered Central Service Technician preferred

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $31.94 - $41.20 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
