Job Description

Summary

Responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient transportation of prescription medications, pharmacy supplies, inventory, documents, and other operational items between the Central Pharmacy Service Center, Baptist Health pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, and other designated locations. Ensures compliance with all applicable pharmacy, regulatory, and organizational policies regarding medication handling, transportation, storage conditions, and chain of custody. All employees will continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives.

Job Description:

Baptist Health is looking for a Courier to join our team at the Central Pharmacy in LaGrange, KY!

  • Safely transports prescription medications, refill orders, specialty medications, supplies, and pharmacy inventory between the Central Pharmacy Service Center and designated facilities.
  • Maintains chain of custody and security of all medications during transport.
  • Ensures medications requiring refrigeration or other temperature controls are transported according to established policies and procedures.
  • Verifies delivery and receipt documentation as required.
  • Responds promptly to urgent medication delivery requests to support patient care and operational needs.
  • Maintains daily activity logs reflecting delivery routes, stops completed, and items transported.
  • Delivers pharmacy supplies, inventory items, equipment, mail, and operational materials in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Collects and returns pharmacy-related documents, records, and shipments requiring interfacility transfer.
  • Assists with movement of inventory between pharmacy locations to support stock optimization and operational continuity.
  • Sorts and organizes delivery items according to planned routes to ensure efficient distribution.
  • Reports discrepancies, damaged items, or delivery concerns to pharmacy leadership.
  • Maintains the courier vehicle by keeping it clean, full of gas and serviced to ensure the vehicle is in good operating condition.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient and prescription information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
  • Attends required safety, compliance, and departmental training programs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness and organizational safety procedures.
  • Reports safety concerns, security incidents, or medication transport issues immediately.
  • Utilizes appropriate personal protective equipment and safe lifting techniques.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a clean driving record and is insurable without restrictions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written word.
  • Ability to read and understand required information.
  • Assertive, honest, dependable, self-motivated, with the ability to adapt to the changes in health care.
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule whenever necessary.
  • Utilize proper lifting techniques.
  • Must maintain a current CPR certificate.
