Job Description

STV is seeking an accomplished Area Manager to lead and grow our Central Florida Transportation business, driving market expansion, diversification, and operational excellence across the region.

You will be based in our expanding Lake Mary office and serve as the most senior transportation leader for Central Florida. In this role, you will shape a high‑growth platform, strengthen key client relationships, and elevate STV’s presence across one of the most dynamic infrastructure markets in the country.

WHY THIS ROLE | WHY JOIN STV

This is a rare opportunity to step into a leadership role with both foundation and runway:

  • Established platform, not a blank slate: STV has an existing team of design and CEI professionals in Lake Mary, providing immediate capability and a strong base to scale.

  • First Area Manager focused on Central Florida: You will define the structure, priorities, and long‑term growth trajectory for the region, with meaningful influence from day one.

  • Collaborative statewide model: You will partner closely with Area Managers across Florida in a shared‑success model built on collaboration, not internal competition.

  • Sustained growth and investment: STV has made Florida a strategic priority, with continued leadership focus, resource allocation, and long‑term commitment to expanding our transportation presence.

  • Proven momentum: STV’s Florida transportation business has grown from approximately $5M to $35M+ in net service revenue (representing roughly $10M to $70M in total gross revenue) in under five years, a trajectory built by the same leadership team you will be joining and helping to scale.

  • Strong legacy, expanding footprint: Backed by more than 100 years of engineering excellence, STV combines national scale with a growing Florida presence—creating a unique opportunity to build regionally while leveraging a strong corporate foundation.

  • Active Central Florida portfolio: Current and recent work spans roadway design, transit and rail (passenger and freight), CEI services, and planning initiatives, supported by established relationships with FDOT District 5, Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX), Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise, and local jurisdictions, with active program roles and an embedded presence alongside key clients across the region.

  • Momentum in transit and planning: STV continues to expand its role in the Orlando market through participation in major regional planning and transportation initiatives.

  • Integrated delivery model: You will have access to statewide technical expertise across bridge, traffic, planning, and design disciplines to support local growth and pursuit execution.

YOUR NEW ROLE

As Area Manager, you will spend a heavier commitment of your time as an externally facing leader - advancing strategic initiatives in close alignment with peer Area Managers across Florida and neighboring states with shared accountability for the Transportation South Groups overall growth strategy.

You will build strong, cross‑disciplinary partnerships with regional business development directors, technical discipline leaders and teaming partners to deliver an integrated, client‑focused approach across architecture, engineering, planning, design, and construction services.

STV’s Transportation portfolio in Central Florida spans highway and bridge design, transit, construction engineering and inspection (CEI), and advisory services, supporting long‑standing clients such as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and related local agencies.

You will lead and advance a high‑performing Transportation team of project managers, engineers, planners, and construction leaders, while defining and executing growth strategies that expand revenue, strengthen market presence, and reinforce STV’s talent brand across the region.

Talent & Culture

  • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent to support current and future business needs.

  • Build a strong leadership bench and succession pipeline for critical roles.

  • Mentor and develop future leaders while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high‑performance culture.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Recognized subject matter expertise in one or more areas such as roadway/highway design, structural design, hydraulics, transit, planning, construction management and Alternative Delivery and Design-Build methods (a big plus)

  • Proven leadership of multi‑disciplinary teams, including Project Managers, Engineers, Planners, Construction Managers, and Inspectors.

Business & Leadership Strengths

  • Strong externally and internally facing leader with the ability to build trust at the executive and agency level.
