Job Description

The Center for Behavioral Health and Wellness is seeking an intern to assist and support the team with the promotion and coordination of behavioral health programming across the City of Boston. The intern will receive direct supervision from the Program Manager, with oversight from the Director. Tasks will include, but are not limited to creating fact sheets, assisting with planning of internal and external events, assisting with data assessment, and assisting and executing current projects. The intern may have the opportunity to design a project presentation to present to team at the end of internship. Intern duties may also include research, analysis, and writing for reviews, presentations, or briefs on relevant behavioral health related topics, and assisting on general week-by-week tasks. The hours mentioned are flexible and can be adjusted, as well as extend the number of weeks if needed.

  • Learn about the numerous behavioral health services and resources available to Boston residents, and the nuances that come with accessing these services
  • Develop strong project management skills
  • Gain familiarity with how to select methods to evaluate behavioral health programs
  • Knowledge on design /implement a population-based project

Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Health Sciences, Communications, or a related field preferred
  • Strong interest in behavioral health, wellness, public health, and community-based programming
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable assisting with research, data assessment, presentations, and project coordination
  • Interest in program evaluation, community engagement, and population-based health initiatives
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and/or Google Workspace preferred
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and willingness to learn
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support a variety of ongoing projects and events
  • Familiarity with Canva, survey platforms, or data visualization tools is a plus
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and improving access to behavioral health resources preferred
