Job Description
The ideal candidate is an experienced cement manufacturing professional with a proven background as a Control Room Leader or Shift Supervisor in a cement plant environment. They are a safety-focused leader with strong knowledge of MSHA regulations and a demonstrated ability to lead teams, drive operational excellence, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced production setting. This individual is highly dependable, capable of coordinating plant operations from the control room while effectively communicating with production and maintenance teams to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent plant performance. They are flexible and team-oriented, willing to support PTO coverage as needed and work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule. A strong commitment to teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational reliability is essential, while an associate or technical degree is a plus.
What you will do:
Coordinates activities of workers engaged in the monitoring of the control panel, which includes making necessary adjustments to the kiln’s raw and finish grinding, and the material handling systems. This is a working lead position that supports the Production Manager in all aspects of operations. Must be able to take appropriate action under abnormal and emergency conditions.
Main Responsibilities:
• Conduct Continuous Improvements (Enablon Webside).
• Conduct safety tool-box meeting with the shift crew on a regular basis
• Drive operational morning meetings and be responsible for daily shift reports.
• Prepare Work Orders (WO) on SAP
• Accountable for Shift field inspections (Fastfield) and Shift Environmental inspection execution.
• Safety is a prime consideration in this position. Employees must wear proper protective equipment and follow appropriate safety procedures in all areas where duties are performed.
• Maintain continuous surveillance of the kiln and mill processes during the assigned shift.
• Maintain liaison with quality control to ensure uniform processing.
• Conduct safety inspections of the department and maintain good housekeeping.
• Conduct Continuous Improvement and Safety Meetings with departmental employees on a regular basis.
• Keep accurate, neat, timely records of equipment and process as directed.
• Perform maintenance and minor repairs within capabilities to maintain continuous operation and assist in the field as needed.
• Determine the need for assistance from the service departments (electrical, maintenance, mobile equipment, etc.) and request appropriate personnel through the Team Leader.
• Provide on-the-job training to team members.
• Will perform clean-up and housekeeping functions as assigned.
• Performs other duties, as assigned.
Experience and abilities you will need:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working as a shift supervisor or control room leader at a cement manufacturing plant is required.
• Will need to be able to cover PTO as needed.
• Will need to be able to work on 12 hour rotating shift.
• Associates or technical degree (2 years) desired.
• Strong working knowledge of Safety/MSHA.
• Team leadership skills.
