Job Description

This position will be based out of the Anchorage or Palmer, AK offices and will primarily be a ‘Field Assignment Position’ within the state of Alaska. It will report to the corresponding Program Manager or site-specific designee. The Cement/Concrete Finisher is responsible for placing, finishing, and repairing concrete on a variety of construction projects. This includes preparing surfaces, applying finishing techniques, setting forms, and ensuring completed concrete work meets quality standards.

This position requires 75% travel; hours worked while in travel status could be up to 12 hours per day.

The pay rate for this position is $30/hour Admin Rate. Please note this is a full-time seasonal position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

  • Place, level, and finish concrete for slabs, sidewalks, curbs, foundations, and other structures.
  • Use hand tools and power tools such as trowels, floats, screeds, and edgers.
  • Set, align, and remove forms as needed.
  • Apply curing compounds and ensure proper curing processes.
  • Repair existing concrete by patching, resurfacing, or grinding.
  • Ensure surface textures, slopes, and finishes meet project requirements.
  • Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas.
  • Follow all jobsite safety standards and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent
  • Three (3) years of experience as a Cement/Concrete Finisher
  • Knowledge of various finishing techniques (broom finish, smooth, stamp, exposed aggregate).
  • Ability to read grade stakes and follow layout lines.
  • Skilled with hand and power finishing tools.
  • Ability to pass background checks by various Federal Agencies (e.g., DOD, DHS, FAA, etc.) to obtain security access.
  • Valid driver’s license, with a cleaning driving record and the ability to be insured per company policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures

Working Environment:

  • May be indoors or outdoors, subject to confined spaces, changes in temperature, weather conditions, and noise levels.

Physical Demands (including but not limited to):

  • Frequent lifting, sitting, standing, stooping for prolonged periods of time, using hands/fingers requiring dexterity, should have good hand-eye coordination and motion control in coordination with handling tools, equipment, and other related components.
  • Reaching with hands and arms for items above and below sight level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth, color perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place within the project location with occasional use of stairs and no elevator available; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 12 hours.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds such as small electrical components, equipment and other materials.
