Job Description

Who are we?

Frencken Mechatronics is involved in the development and assembly of industrial systems or the semiconductor industry, the healthcare market, and a wide range of analytical applications. The high-quality precision mechanical parts, machine assemblies, and vacuum systems are assembled in both clean room and non-clean room environments. As a service provider, Frencken Mechatronics also produces high-quality precision components and modules for leading clients in the high-tech industry.

1. Sub-Module Assembly

· Assemble mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electromechanical sub-modules according to drawings, work instructions, and bill of materials.

· Install components, brackets, panels, sensors, motors, cables, tubing, and related hardware within sub-modules.

· Perform fitting, fastening, alignment, levelling, and torqueing where required.

· Verify that the correct parts and quantities are used during assembly.

· Complete visual and workmanship checks before releasing sub-modules for final integration.

· Report missing parts, incorrect parts, damaged components, and drawing discrepancies to the engineer.

2. Final Equipment Assembly

· Perform final mechanical assembly of equipment, frames, panels, covers, and related components.

· Install completed sub-modules and purchased components into the main equipment.

· Assemble and secure equipment sections according to approved drawings and work instructions.

· Carry out component alignment, levelling, fitting, fastening, and torqueing where required.

· Ensure all parts and modules are installed correctly and securely.

3. Equipment Integration

· Integrate completed sub-modules, assemblies, and purchased components into the final equipment.

· Connect mechanical interfaces, electrical cables, pneumatic tubing, hoses, and related hardware.

· Verify that parts, labels, connectors, and installation locations match the applicable drawings and bill of materials.

· Support equipment configuration changes and assembly rework according to approved instructions.

4. Cable and Tubing Routing

· Route electrical cables, cable harnesses, pneumatic tubes, and hoses according to routing drawings and workmanship standards.

· Ensure proper cable segregation, bending radius, clamping, tie-down, protection, and accessibility.

· Install cable trays, brackets, conduits, clamps, sleeves, labels, and protective covers.

· Ensure cables and tubing are neatly routed without interference, excessive tension, sharp bends, pinching, or damage.

· Verify cable and tubing identification against the relevant drawings and connection points.

5. Workmanship and Quality Control

· Perform visual and workmanship checks during and after assembly.

· Ensure sub-module and final assembly work complies with drawings, specifications, checklists, and quality requirements.

· Identify and report missing parts, incorrect parts, drawing discrepancies, damaged components, and assembly issues.

· Correct assembly defects and perform approved rework when required.

· Maintain cleanliness and proper housekeeping of sub-modules, equipment, and work areas.

6. Documentation

· Complete assembly checklists, torque records, routing checklists, inspection records, and other required production documents.

· Record completed work and report outstanding items or abnormalities to the supervisor.

· Maintain proper traceability of installed components where required.

· Follow the latest approved drawings, procedures, and engineering change instructions.

7. Production Support

· Work closely with production supervisors, engineers, quality personnel, and other technicians.

· Support sub-module transfer, equipment movement, positioning, installation, packing preparation, and other production activities when required.

· Follow the production schedule and complete assigned work within the required timeline.

· Participate in continuous improvement activities related to assembly quality, productivity, safety, and workplace organisation.

8. Safety Responsibilities

· Follow all workplace safety procedures, risk assessments, and safe work instructions.

· Use the required personal protective equipment.

· Operate hand tools, power tools, lifting devices, and assembly equipment safely.

· Report unsafe conditions, damaged tools, and safety concerns immediately.

· Maintain good 5S and housekeeping standards in the work area.

Qualifications

· NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent technical qualification in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Precision Engineering, or a related discipline.

· Candidates with relevant equipment assembly experience may also be considered.

· Preferably at least 1 year of experience in sub-module assembly, equipment assembly, machine assembly, module integration, cable routing, panel assembly, or a related manufacturing environment.

· Entry-level candidates with suitable technical training may be considered.

Skills and Experience

· Able to read and understand mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, cable routing drawings, and basic electrical schematics.

· Familiar with hand tools, torque tools, power tools, measuring tools, and basic assembly equipment.

· Experience in sub-module assembly, cable harness routing, cable dressing, tubing installation, labelling, and equipment integration is preferred.

· Good understanding of assembly workmanship and quality requirements.

· Able to identify assembly discrepancies and report them clearly.

· Able to perform physically demanding assembly activities, including standing, bending, reaching, and handling equipment parts.
