Job Description

The summer season is coming!

* Do you love hospitality and providing exemplary customer service to ensure a world-class experience?

* Are you passionate about wine and food?

We’re looking for enthusiastic team members who can bring their flair for hospitality to create engaging wine tasting & food experiences for our guests at The Shed in Central Otago.

These fixed-term summer positions are truly hybrid - from serving guests in the restaurant, to hosting wine tastings in the cellar door, and helping to support our kitchen team when required.

We are open five days per week (Wednesday to Sunday), so the successful applicants will need to be available to work weekends and public holidays.

We are looking for people who:

  • Demonstrate a genuine passion for hospitality with excellent customer service, and who love to bring people together over food and wine.
  • Showcase their genuine interest in food and wine, with an eagerness to learn and develop across both areas.
  • Can create memorable guest experiences, converting to wine & merchandise sales and wine-club signups - turning positive experiences into wine sales and brand loyalty.
  • Are a natural people-person and team player, who can contribute positively to a tight-knit group.
  • Can support private experience and VIP events.

Requirements

  • Experience in hospitality, preferably a wine-focused environment e.g. cellar door, wine bar, restaurant etc.
  • A sales-orientated mindset - able to convert positive experiences into sales of wines, food, merchandise and wine club.
  • An honest and deliberate approach to communication, with a team-first mindset.
  • Availability to work weekends and public holidays.
  • English is essential, an additional language is a plus.
  • Legal rights to work in New Zealand (no visa sponsorship available for these positions).

Benefits

  • Reliable daytime hours (open five days a week, Wednesday to Sunday).
  • A stunning work environment, surrounded by vineyards with breathtaking mountain views.
  • Generous discounts on wine, food, and merchandise at the cellar door and restaurant.
  • A positive and supportive team culture, with an emphasis on employee inclusion, wellbeing, and health & safety.
  • A forward-thinking, structured professional environment.
  • Staff events and team experiences.

About Cloudy Bay Vineyards

The Cloudy Bay story is one of adventure, vision and commitment. In 1983 David Hohnen tasted his first Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Captivated by its intensity, he began a journey to bottle the essence of Marlborough and share it with the world. David and winemaker Kevin Judd launched Cloudy Bay with a promise of uncompromising quality from grape to glass. It’s been that way ever since.

Cloudy Bay’s legacy began in Marlborough with Sauvignon Blanc and now includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pelorus méthode traditionnelle. The spirit of adventure continues with Te Koko, a barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc, and Te Wahi, a sophisticated Central Otago Pinot Noir.

Our goal is to connect people to our home through each glass of wine, evoking New Zealand’s natural wonder and sense of simple luxury. Cloudy Bay wines are the pure taste of our home, an expression of our appreciation, admiration and respect for the land.

Enjoy responsibly and be of legal drinking age to follow us.
