As a member of the site leadership team, the Generator Cell Leader is responsible for the end-to-end execution of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost (SQDC) and People goals for the generator cell, while contributing to the overall site near- and long- term plans and delivery. This role requires strategic oversight of repair operations, managing both human and capital resources, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement through Lean methodologies. The Cell Leader serves as a technical and leadership mentor, ensuring alignment between shop-floor execution and business unit objectives.

Operations & Strategic Leadership

  • Performance Management: Drive a culture where safety and quality are embedded into all systems and behaviors. Lead by example in all operational activities, ensuring adherence to environmental and safety standards.
  • Execution Excellence: Manage "wing-to-wing" operations (scheduling, material flow, cost delivery, training, and labor allocation) to meet or exceed customer commitments and internal KPIs. Responsible for operations including winding, and test and balance.
  • Strategy Development: Develop and communicate a cell-wide strategy that aligns with the broader business goals. Support master production scheduling and provide input into resource/equipment planning.
  • Continuous Improvement: Act as a Lean change agent. Use Lean methodologies to reduce waste, optimize inventory, and improve process maturity (standard work, visual management).
  • Financial Stewardship: Oversee budget delivery, including labor costs, consumable spend, and financial targets.
  • Team Development & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • People Leadership: Select, hire, train, and develop a diverse, high-performing team of salaried and hourly employees. Foster an environment of respect, trust, and open communication.
  • Collaboration: Serve as the primary liaison between internal support functions (Engineering, Quality, Sourcing, Materials, Sales, and Logistics) to ensure seamless delivery of products or services.
  • Coordination: Manage internal and external networks and resources, including coordinating with external vendors and contract labor suppliers as necessary to ensure appropriate staffing levels.

Technical & Subject Matter Expertise

  • Technical Authority: Serve as a best-practice resource for generator-related disciplines. Use data analysis and technical expertise to solve complex operational challenges and inform leadership recommendations.
  • Problem Solving: Lead root-cause analysis for technical and personnel issues. Implement sustainable, data-driven solutions to maintain the competitiveness of the department.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or Business discipline from an accredited university; OR a High School diploma/GED with 10+ years of relevant and progressive heavy industrial manufacturing experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in manufacturing operations, production management, or engineering roles.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience in a people-leading role (direct or indirect reports).

Desired Characteristics

  • Certification: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (or equivalent quality certification).
  • Technical Acumen: Ability to analyze complex data sets to drive business decisions; strong knowledge of standard cost systems and production/inventory control, knowledge of generator disciplines, knowledge of repair operations.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal, influence, and oral/written communication skills; ability to manage multiple, high-priority tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Mindset: Strong continuous improvement, problem-solving, and organizational mindset with a high level of attention to detail.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $104,600.00 and $174,400.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
