Duties, Responsibilities & Other

Our CEI Practice is growing - we have an immediate need for a CEI Office Engineer.

  • Ability to: Communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing)
  • Responsible for: Receiving general instructions regarding assignments and exercising initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems.
  • Responsible for: Completing, directing, and assigning specific tasks to administrative staff and coordinating and reviewing field staff document submittals for accuracy, completeness, and conformance with project requirements during all phases of the construction project.
  • Responsible for: Compiling project documentation into daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports
  • Responsible for: Managing and tracking spreadsheets of quantities, materials, inspections, testing, identified construction issues, and other construction inspection documentation as assigned.
  • Responsible for: Progress estimates and final estimates throughout the construction project duration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Review, comment, and approve construction inspection summaries of daily activities
  • Review submittals for completeness and conformance with project requirements, drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.
  • Review detailed records of the contractor’s daily operations including work items, quantities, construction issues, construction methods, and events that affect the work
  • Track / measure completed work quantities for payment
  • Manage the team of inspectors, assist in coordinating their schedules and oversee their work and records
  • Assist in coordinating and communicating material testing requirements on the project. Review project sampling and testing of materials and completed work for acceptance.
  • Monitor work zone traffic control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issues
  • Monitor the erosion control plan, identify permitting requirements and verify conformance with such, and review and comment on contractor erosion control submittals.
  • Analyze complex construction documentation processes requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures.
  • Interact with Project Managers and clients in a proactive manner to determine what routine issues affecting project management need to be addressed
  • Maintain construction project records in accordance with GDOT and project specific procedures
  • Interface proactively with the project managers, contractors, and inspection staff on various facets of the project including review of contract plans and documents, day-to-day construction activities and review of contractors’ submittals
  • Perform/oversee the review of daily inspection reports and quantity computations
  • Ensure timely completion of time sheets and expense reports
  • Take ownership of personal career development by seeking and providing feedback, seizing opportunities to develop new skills, and setting and pursuing personal goals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 - 9 years of experience required.
