Job Description

Summary

Do you want to help build some of the largest and most consequential enterprise and customer technology systems in the world? Join Apple’s Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) organization. IS&T is the engine behind everything Apple does for customers and for the people who build for them. It’s Apple’s central nervous system. Supporting 2.5 billion active Apple devices, processing billions of secure transactions, and keeping the technology that defines modern life running flawlessly, IS&T makes the impossible feel effortless.

Do you love building solutions to handle global complexity and immense scale? Imagine what you could do here.

Infrastructure Services is part of IS&T and the foundation of Apple's global network operations — managing data center equipment and systems to deliver compute, storage, and networking services for teams across Apple, including its internal developer community. From individual facilities to a worldwide network, Infrastructure Services ensures the technology underneath everything works without question.

Description

Apple Edge Services brings content to people with Apple devices around the world. Our innovative team is responsible for resiliency and quality customer experiences through our hardware and software running in global data centers.

The Edge Services team is looking for a CDN Capacity & Infrastructure Manager to own capacity planning, forecasting, and infrastructure health across our global content delivery network. You’ll be the bridge between traffic trends, hardware procurement, and operational reliability — ensuring our edge infrastructure scales ahead of demand without overbuilding. This role sits at the intersection of network engineering, data analysis, and vendor/operations coordination, and is accountable for making sure the CDN never runs out of headroom during peak events while keeping cost and utilization in balance.

To support our expanding edge delivery footprint and high-concurrency traffic events (major OS releases, live sports/entertainment streaming, and continuous service growth), we need a Capacity & Infrastructure Manager to lead demand forecasting, fleet lifecycle execution, and unit-economics optimization for our Content Delivery Network. This role bridges edge software engineering, global network peering/transit, and hardware supply chain—establishing rigorous capacity models, mitigating long-lead hardware risks across colocation facilities, and optimizing multi-terabit peering commitments. By transitioning our edge footprint to predictive, data-driven modeling, this hire directly protects user experience while driving discipline into our infrastructure CapEx spend.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with time-series forecasting methods or capacity modeling tools

Data analysis skills (SQL and/or scripting) to build forecasting models and reporting

Experience with data center or colocation site planning and hardware lifecycle management

Background in live-streaming or high-traffic event capacity planning

Experience with observability stacks (e.g., Splunk, ClickHouse, Grafana) for capacity/utilization reporting

Exposure to automation/orchestration tooling for infrastructure provisioning

Written and verbal communication skills, including presenting technical findings to leadership

Bachelor’s degree in CS, EE, or related field, or equivalent practical experience

Minimum Qualifications

6+ years of experience in capacity planning, infrastructure engineering, or network operations, ideally within CDN, cloud, or large-scale distributed systems environments

Experience forecasting infrastructure capacity using traffic/usage data

Understanding of CDN architecture fundamentals (edge/PoP design, caching, traffic routing, origin shielding)

Experience working with monitoring and analytics tooling to track utilization and performance metrics

Track record coordinating cross-functionally with network engineering, SRE, and vendor/procurement teams
