As part of this investment, we are expanding our CDM and Health & Safety capability and are seeking experienced professionals to help shape, strengthen and influence safety performance across a diverse portfolio of projects, clients and services throughout the UK.
We are looking for experienced CDM and Health & Safety professionals to play a key role in ensuring construction, maintenance, infrastructure and refurbishment activities are delivered safely, legally and effectively.
This is a fantastic opportunity for knowledgeable construction health and safety professionals who want to influence projects from concept through to completion, providing expert advice, challenge and assurance across a diverse portfolio of high-risk and complex environments and services across Capita's delivery arm.
Working closely with project teams, clients, designers, contractors and senior stakeholders, you'll help ensure that Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) requirements are embedded throughout the project lifecycle and that Principal Designer and Principal Contractor duties are effectively discharged.

The Opportunity
As we continue to invest in and strengthen our Health & Safety capability, we are currently recruiting CDM and HSE professionals to support projects and services across Scotland , North of England and other locations throughout the UK.
Whether you are looking for an opportunity to provide on-site project support or take a broader role influencing safety, compliance and assurance across multiple contracts and business areas, you'll be joining a function that is growing and evolving as part of a wider investment in specialist capability.
What you'll be doing
Depending on your role and level of experience, you may:
Provide professional CDM advice and assurance across a portfolio of projects and services.
Support and oversee the delivery of Principal Designer and Principal Contractor activities.
Review key project documentation, including Pre-Construction Information (PCI), Construction Phase Plans (CPP), Design Risk Registers, Health & Safety Files, Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
Undertake audits, inspections and assurance reviews across project and operational sites.
Challenge unsafe practices, poor design risk management and non-compliant arrangements.
Support procurement, mobilisation and contractor management activities.
Advise on contractor competence, risk management and statutory compliance.
Deliver training, coaching and awareness sessions to project teams and stakeholders.
Contribute to investigations, lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
Monitor legislative and industry developments, ensuring organisational compliance and best practice.
For senior opportunities, provide strategic advice to business leaders and senior stakeholders while helping shape and strengthen Health & Safety capability across the organisation.
What we're looking for
You will be a confident and credible CDM professional with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Essential
Significant experience providing CDM advice within construction, infrastructure, engineering, facilities management, property or other high-risk environments.
Strong working knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
Experience supporting or overseeing Principal Designer and/or Principal Contractor duties.
NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent construction health and safety qualification.
Experience reviewing Construction Phase Plans, Design Risk Registers and Health & Safety Files.
Experience undertaking audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
Excellent communication, report writing and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to provide practical, proportionate and risk-based advice.
Desirable
NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6 Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
Chartered IOSH (CMIOSH), APS Membership or equivalent professional accreditation.
Degree, HNC or HND in Construction, Engineering, Building Surveying, Architecture, Project Management or a related discipline.
Knowledge of the Building Safety Act and fire safety considerations within construction projects.
Experience working across public sector, utilities, highways, estates, social housing or infrastructure programmes.
